PAIR OF BELLARMINE LAMPS, C.1640

A pair of large Bellarmine jugs, adapted as table lamps. Bellarmines, or Bartmann (German: "bearded man") jugs, feature bearded faces on their collars, and were used during the 17th century to store beer and wine.
